Hi , my wife and I have completed out trust deed after 3very quick years .... We are both registered on the AIB and our trustee was registered as released on 19/03/14 .
We have just received cheques at home dated 22nd April 14 from the bank of Scotland .
We now believe that these are ours to cash as out trustee has released any claim or windfall on our behalf ..... Can anyone give us any thoughts on this ?
Thanks in advance .....
Pretty sure that once the trustee has been discharged they can't touch anything that comes your way.
Glad that's over with....
Thanks upstream..... I'm wondering that the claim was made a while ago and they've paid out now after the trustees discharge that should matter ?
Thanks for you're quick responses !
It seems it was a company called equity in finance that was dealing with ppi claims on behalf of trustee..... I can't imagine he would have released himself and paid the surplus to our creditors if he expected any more funds to become available ?
Maybe you could shed more light on this process ?
Thanks
It may have been the case that the Trustee didn't expect any further funds to be received and took the decision to close your cases or that the sums involved outweighed the benefit of extending the cases to ingather it. Whatever the reason the important thing is if you have both been discharged then it's your money to keep.
A nice little bonus at the end of your Trust Deed as well. Enjoy spending the money.
