I was too this time 2 weeks ago. Frantic. Sick. Not sleeping. Not eating. Unable to concentrate on anything. Narky with everyone.

However, this week I have signed my TD and although we're now playing the waiting game for protected status, I could not be happier. Having worked with one of the most respected TD companies I have every confidence they know what they're doing and that protected status will happen.

As I said to my wife earlier this evening, for the first time for years I feel like a normal person, sitting down to enjoy a relaxing Friday evening in front of "I'm a Celebrity..." without the constant, never-ending and totally debilitating worry of large, unmanageable debt.

Believe me, a TD is NOT the end of the world. It's the opposite. It gives you control. It gives you your life back.

Consider it. Seriously.

Big problems need big solutions and if a TD is the right solution for you, go for it because you won't regret it.

Hope this helps in some way.

Cheers,

Hi Debtfreewannabee

Fantastic post. This shows how things should be if the correct processes, assurances etc are followed.

The Trust Deed process is designed to solve a problem not create one and if the IP firm involved can sit down with the person, chat through things and provide clear options that have a start date and end date without the nonsense we have all read about, then I say fantastic. Use the law and the guidance the way it was intended.

Need to step off my soapbox now, just noticed the snow!

I just thought I'd add a note to this thread for people who are still worried sick about their situation.

Believe me, I know what you're going through. Been there. Seen it. Done it. Bought the T-shirt (on credit of course).

The bottom line is this. As soon as you take action, whatever that may be, you will feel infinitely better. There's nothing worse than waiting for those phone calls and letters. Always remember there IS something you can do to take control back and it's all laid out here on this excellent forum.

If I were to offer once piece of advice it's to use a top-notch company such as the recommended ones here. You'll immediately feel you're in good hands being advised by people who know EXACTLY what they're doing to get everything in place to the satisfaction of all concerned.

There's really no need for you to suffer another ruined Christmas.

A TD gives you a fresh start. That's what it was designed for. If it's the right solution for you, get started. The second you get things underway, the happier you'll be.

Cheers,

DebtFreeWannabee

DFW makes an excellent point, the choice of an excellent company to handle a trust deed is very important. A quick read around this forum, including some of the very recent posts, demonstrates that there are a couple of trust deed companies for whom providing a decent level of service is completely unimportant.

That shouldn't stop people going ahead with a trust deed if it's right for them. It's just important to carefully choose the right company.

The position of this site is fairly straightforward on this subject. We feature three trust deed companies (those of Mark, Kevin and Julie) that we chose carefully and who continually get great feedback from visitors that chose to use their services to handle their trust deed. We acknowledge that there also are many other excellent and professional trust deed companies out there as well. As mentioned there are also a minority that continually attract negative feedback from visitors to this forum.

In reality I don't suppose this is any different to any other industry. However the serious nature of the subject makes a careful choice even more important than normal.
