I keep getting a company called scottishtrustdeed.info posted into my Facebook feed, touting the benefits of a trust deed in the usual way, and it all looks very attractive. I went into the comments that people were leaving and it was mostly requests for information. There were 2 people the other day that had asked if student loans and benefit overpayments were covered and the company had replied that they were as it is ALL unsecured debt! I posted a link from the AiB website showing how these were not covered and to be very careful about discussing these things with at least a couple of different companies. That company immediately deleted my posts but left their advice about how these types of debts were covered by a TD!

I then messaged these 2 people directly with the information but got no reply which makes me think they were just bogus profiles used to try spark the interest of anyone with these types of debt that might be reading the posts.

How underhand can you get?!

Glad that's over with....

I've just been on the website.

Seems to break almost every rule about promoting debt solutions in the book!

It's so bad. Can't help but feel we'll see posts in here in the future from people who have used this company, complaining how they were told a load of rubbish to sign up and that they are now in a worse position than they were already.

Glad that's over with....

Middlemen have been around since I started Insolvency 20 ahem! something years ago. ( since I was 10!)

I've dealt with a few who have been really good and know the ins and outs, unfortunately in my experience the vast majority are sales driven and commission based and as soon as commissions are involved, the advice tends to be centered around what people want to hear rather than what is best advice.

I think the change in Regs over the last few years has made it more difficult, however they will always be there I suspect.
