Just a quick bit of advice really- im keen to get some proper professional advice around my particular situation as i have let it drift for months through fear really. There is an adviser on here that im thinking of contacting however is it poss to just call and make an appointment to see someone without going through it all on the phone- i always seem to end up in tears when discussing it and would prefer to do the chat face to face, also is it likely that you will actually get to speak to the adviser that you have seen on here
Thanks J

Hi Joni.

Mark, Kevin and Shona all meet their clients face-to-face. Mark tends to travel widely throughout Scotland himself whereas Kevin or Shona have colleagues that may cover certain parts of Scotland that are further away from where they are personally based.

Quite often a brief chat on the phone is required to run through some pretty basic information. The reason for that is to ensure that a trust deed appears to be a route that is both open to you and potentially suitable for you; it therefore will prevent your time and that of the visitor from being taken up where it is clear that another option will be a much better one for you. Having said that, the bulk of the work, explanation and answering of questions should and would be done on a face-to-face basis.

Hi Joni.

You're absolutely definitely 100% not the only person who may sometimes become upset when discussing debt and the worry and/or stress that it is causing them.

Any decent debt or trust deed adviser will be understanding and patient in such circumstances.

Hi Joni

Its actually quite common, but more from the relief aspect than anything else.

It's the unknown element which is the scary part, however if you sit down face to face, then everything should be discussed and all your questions answered. You can then hopefully regain some control over mmatters and look forward to a proposal which you know has a start date and an end date with no surprises.

Hope this helps a wee bit.

Any tears you may have at the moment will be nothing compared to the relief you feel when you finally get something sorted out - i don't mind admitting i cried buckets when my last TD payment left my bank account.

I cried buckets when I was sorting out my deed. There were 2 people in the room going through everything and one of them had to go get me tissues. I felt a bit silly bubbling in front of total strangers but they were so sympathetic.

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!
