Hi

I have currently entered into a trust deed and I am waiting it becoming protected. I have a few questions 1. Do I need to tell my work about this? 2. Am I able to save at all? As I have a son who’s birthday is coming up & normally I would keep a little money aside to buy presets for him

Hi Nicola, welcome to the forum and best of luck with your Trust Deed.

It isn't normally required to tell employers about Trust Deeds, however in certain industries/professions it might be a requirement of your contract/terms and conditions of employment to do so. It's really up to you to check this.

Savings for birthdays/Christmas etc are certainly allowed within reason and should be allowed for in your budget. You should have received a copy of the income/expenditure breakdown (Form 2a) sent to your creditors with your Trust Deed proposals, which should show how much your trustee has agreed can be put aside each month for these things.

Thank you #128522; I have contacted my HR department they have advised it will not affect my employment however advised me to mention to my manager. I have checked my contract and there is nothing showing to say I can’t have an inform of insolvency. I’m not close with my manager so would rather not make him aware. Based on nothing showing in my contract I guess it’s fine not to advise my manager.

I have checked my income:expenditure and nothing is shown for savings or birthdays/gifts however I have spoke to my trustee carrington dean who have advised it is ok to take some from my budget for food etc for this. Would that be correct

Hi Nicci_36,

I don't think anyone will have any problem at all with you saving modestly from your existing allowances. This is just sound household money management given that all of our expenses vary a bit from month to month.
