I am one year into a three year Protcected trust deed and work for the Armed forces. My repayments are ?ú640.00 a month on a ?ú52,000 debt. I was recentley posted to a new Base, so my wife had to give up her job and has had no luck getting a new one and we are now struggling. Can i get my monthly repayments reduced? When my wife was working it covered the trust deed almost, leaving me with the house hold bills and a few other bits. Now after everthing is payed im left with about ?ú450 a month and four mouths to feed[V].
Hi qwerty and welcome to the Trust Deed forum.
It is possible for the payments into a Protected Trust Deed to be reduced when circumstances change.
The first step will be for you to contact your Trustee to explain the change of circumstances and to ask whether (and how) your Protected Trust Deed can be reviewed in light of the changes.
As Trust Deed Assistant says, speak to your trustee. At least they may be able to reduce your payments temporarily, though they may insist that you catch up again further down the line.
