I signed a trust deed in 2006, since then i have been off sick from work for 12mth with a spine injury and 6mths while being treated for cancer, 2nd time i have been diagnosed since 2004. I have been unable to keep up with payments to traust deed, as i was meant to pay more than a third of my monthly wage. While i was off work other debts built up and i had to move out of my parents house. I now live alone and after paying household bills i am left with around ?ú30 per month. I can not afford the trust deed of other debts, which total around ?ú3000. My trustee has said that they may be able to close my case due to my illness. What can i do???? I am worried sick, i cant afford to buy anyone a xmas present and my latest test results from hospital are not looking good, Please advise!!!

Sounds like you have had an awful lot to cope with lately gayle, you have my sympathies.

Hopefully you will be discharged from your trust deed as your trustee has suggested they may be prepared to do, then at least you have some of the burden lifted. In terms of the new debts I would recommend that you seek the help of a trained money adviser (eg from your local authority or citizens advice bureau). It may be possible for them to negotiate a write-off of some or all of these debts given the recurrence of your health problems so that you can concentrate on getting better rather than worrying about paying bills. At least they can advise you on options for managing these debts - ranging from debt management to sequestration.
Best of luck to you.

thanks Kevin. I have been trying to get to my local CAB but cannot get time away from work. I will hopefully be able to arrange time off soon.
