My husbands trust deed completed and he was discharged in May, the trustee discharged themselves in July. RBS are still showing in default on his credit file. TRying to contact them is a nightmare they keep telling him that it is all automatically updated and to contact equifax ect. Equifax bounce it back and say RBS has to note it as being discharged, there is nothing they can do. Who should be doing this?

Also on 13th this month that will be 6yrs from default so is it worth chasing? after 6yrs does it not fall off credit report anyway or will it still have an affect if it falls off without being marked at settled first.

RBS were his biggest and main debt so obv it's causing big problems with him moving on financially this showing as still being in default.

Hi trustdeed1.

RBS need to provide updated information to the credit reference agencies.

If they're refusing to do that you have the option of making a formal complaint to them.

Anything that goes on your credit file stays there for six years, so you'll need to weigh up how much time you want to invest into this.

Yep spoke to someone this morning and she was refusing to give me anyone else to speak to as "they would tell me the same thing". She said it's automatic and I need to speak with equifax ect to get them to do it. Kept telling her that it is up to RBS to provide them with the correct details not up to equifax.

Hi trustdeed1,

It sounds like you need to escalate the call and ask to speak with a manager or someone more senior.

Like TDA has advised next step would be a formal complaint over the phone but best for it to be done in writing.

RBS had to update 4 things on my file and did so after 2 phone calls. They were very pleasant and helpful. I am sure it was the recoveries team I spoke to and they had no issues at all with updating and now is all up to date. I was worried about RBS but speak to the right person and they were excellent.

Thanks everyone, it's trying to get a hold of someone at the recovery team that seems to be the problem. Nobody seems to be willing to give him the number for them, they ask what it is for then tell him to contact equifax ect instead.

RBS a pain the posterior on this point but happy to report they dropped off after the six years.

Afraid I can't say the same for Barclays albeit that seems to have been down to numerous reselling of the debt. Still they, the other and the TD drop off next month.

Sometimes thought it would never happen.

Numbers I dialed were 0845 835 0800 if that doesn`t work try 0345 835 0800
This was the dept that dealt with mine and put me onto the right person.

RBS have informed me they have transferred my "debt" to Robinson Way who will be in touch.

This is so going to FOS. They should give me my compensation up front.

Worth contacting Robinson Way as well Bert Rudge?

By the way... there's more information about debt collection agencies and debt purchasers like Robinson Way at:
