Question regarding PPI

I entered into a Trustdeed in 2006 it ended in 2009. I believe I am discharged but earlier this year I was sent a letter from my Trustee saying that he was informing me I might be able to claim PPI and that if I wished to do so he had the relevent information and also recommended a company I could use to claim the PPI. At the time I think that I looked on line and thought I couln't get any PPI due to having been in a trustdeed but was that accurate?

All my debt was included in the trustdeed such as store credit, credit cards, an egg loan, student loans so everything I could possibly claim PPI for was on the Trustdeed. I have had no debt at all since that time. Most of the debt accured in 2001 - 2003. Am I too late to claim and even if I do would I get any of the money awarded?

Thank you for any and all advice!

We can't really answer your question on this klute.

From what we read here some creditors might pay out while others might believe that they're justified in not doing so.

If you're minded to make PPI claims we'd suggest that you do it yourself. There are good guides to doing this on MoneySavingExpert and the Which? websites.

Thank you for that advice, it is difficult to know what is and isn't possible as there is so much conflicting information online. I am not sure if I do want to make a claim it would feel like dredging up a pretty unpleasent part of the past but I am curently on disability benefits and stuggling financially so all options are being considered, at least I have no debt now!

Thank you again, I will look around and read up on it a bit more.

If you do it yourself no harm done. If however you use a claims firm and are awarded money which one of your old creditor's decides to use to offset some of your debt write off you could end up with a bill from the claim company.

Legal or not nobody knows as nobody has gone to court yet.

Good luck.
