I made my final payment in my protected trust deed in November of last year. I was told that everything should be sorted by March and I would be discharged soon after. Called my Trustee in April to ask what was going on (Carrington Dean) and they told me there were a backlog of PTDs to be sorted out as they had recently merged with another company. I owned no property and have never had PPI so I cant quite understand why it is taking so long to sort out. Is this usual?

Hi softytop

If you signed after April 2008 then there is no reason whatsoever for you trustee not discharging you. He can remain in office and do his ppi thing if he wishes, but I don't see why him bei g busy with lots more cases to deal with should have any effect on you. Either he has the resources to deal with it or not.

Hi softytop

Suggest you contact Carrington Dean and request that it is processed forthwith or you will take the matter further with their authorising body. Resources should not come into play.

Called them today, they again said they were working through a backlog but in the last couple of days had started on mine [:)]

Hopefully should all be coming to a close in a matter of weeks.

Received my Form 5 letter of discharge this morning [:)]

My life had become a nightmare of debt a little over 4 1/2 years ago, and a chance conversation with a close friend made me seek out information on 'trust deeds'.

It wasn't an easy time going through the deed, especially telling family what was happening, but their support was amazing.

Day 1 starts now. [:D]

Don't know if celebration would be the right word, as I got myself into the mess. I certainly will appreciate the value of money and cherish the little things in life a heck of a lot more [:)]

Hi Softytop.

Best wishes whatever you choose to do, finishing a trust deed is no small accomplishment.

It would be great if you chose to share your experience here from time to time with people starting the process of dealing with debt that has become a problem.
