Hi,

I wonder if you are allowed to be a second card holder on a friends credit card while in a protected trust deed.

Also, are you allowed to use a dormant credit card with a limit of ?é?ú150, no outstanding balance at the start date of trust deed.

Thanks a lot.

Hi mikeecho and welcome to the Protected Trust Deeds forum.

As a second card holder it is not you taking out credit. There is no problem from the point of view of a Trust Deed company; it's the primary cardholder and the card issuer who need to be comfortable about that.

On the day that you sign a Trust Deed you need to include all debts. My understanding (which the experts will quickly correct if I am wrong) is that you could use a credit card after having signed a Trust Deed provided that it had a zero balance on the date of signing.

The card issuer may well remove the credit facility if they became aware that you were in a Scottish Trust Deed.

You will also need to be conscious that there will be no allowance made to fund new credit liability repayments as part of your income/expenditure budget during the course of the Trust Deed.

It is an important point though; we at the support team are often asked this question by people who require a credit card for work expenses which are quickly fully reclaimed for example.

Hi Mikeecho

TEA is correct as any liability for the card would fall to the primary card holder.
