Hi there
We entered into a Protected Trust Deed in May 2010 with a company who went into administration last year (2016). We have received our letter of discharge just last year, despite completing payments in 2012. We have had a nightmare claiming PPI, which Richardson Mail is responsible for this. I have had to sign numerous letters stating the payments can be sent to them for the same companies. Now the companies are sending me letters stating that my claim has been unsuccessful as they have already paid out. We continue to receive annual statements from creditors, reporting what our balance is with them, so they obviously haven't yet received any monies.
We are unable to contact the administrators who are dealing with this case.
My questions are as follows: should we contact our creditors ourselves to say we have been discharged? When will it show on our credit file that the balance has been settled? I believe after 6 years, it will no longer show on our file but I'd be happier knowing that everything has been sorted the way it should have been. It's a bit ironic really that the company hired to help us clear debts has gone into administration themselves.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and happy to answer further queries.
Welcome to the forum G3mm@,
I think I've been able to look at some of the detail here, assuming that you've posted a correct name (from the register of insolvencies). You may want to remove that name if you don't want people to be able to do this.
The main thing is that you've been discharged. It should make no difference whatsoever if your trustee has not been discharged and your creditors have not been paid. However your trustee is not responsible for your credit file etc so you may need to contact your creditors to get things updated. See:

My understanding is that the administrators of this firm have continued to trade the business so presumably they'll arrange discharge for the trustee in due course.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

How long does this part usually take, from your experience?
Hi there.
There's no point offering you an answer here. Some firms seem to take a lot longer than others. Some cases take longer to complete the process than others irrespective of the firm involved. There is no specific expectation made of firms as to how long this should take.
It really shouldn't make any difference to you though.
