Hi, I just got an offer from Conocophillips UK and the job is subject to a pre-employment credit check. I am in a Trust deed, will did prevent me from being hired? Its not a finance position but a technical assistant role. Thanks

It may be better coming from you rather than them finding out as it'll be on any credit report. They may think you were trying to hide it. I don't know as I'd get laughed at if I applied for any job related to numbers. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Hi sigario.

The answer will depend upon the recruitment and employment policies of this firm. All are different.

It will show on the credit report, so gillian's suggestion about being upfront may be a good one.

Pingpong makes a good point as well. Most jobs aren't affected by trust deeds and there are other reasons to do credit searches.

All employers have a duty to ensure that future employees are legally resident in the country and allowed to work here. It may be that they simply do checks to confirm this. I would find it unlikely that it will affect your job if you are not working in finance.
