I've been reading lots on here about PPI claims having to go straight to the trust deed but I've got a few questions to clarify some things in my situation...
First of all I'm pregnant and will be going on mat leave in 3 months so my income will drastically drop. I've recently had a claim for PPI confirmed and the company have just sent me a letter saying they will be paying out. I understand it's classed as a windfall etc etc but I really need the money to pay for things for the baby coming and getting this money couldn't have come at a better time with my pregnancy. I'm curious as to whether there's any flexibility with this and if my trust deed company would consider letting me keep at least some of the money if not all (it's only about ยฃ1100) because of my situation. We all know that after any expenses are covered from our income then the rest goes to the trust deed so I don't have spare income to buy things for my baby yet and I'm not entitled to any benefits while I'm still working full-time.
Another thing about the PPI claim is that it's for a creditor that has nothing to do with my trust deed and was for a loan that was paid off several years before I started my trust deed, so would my trust deed company have anyway of knowing about that creditor paying out? I've seen on the forum that it's common now for trust deed companies to check for PPI claims on your behalf, but would that include any historical creditors aside from the creditors that are part of the trust deed?
Please help, thanks in advance!
Hi jacmas
Unfortunately the funds will go to your trustee, irrespective if the loan was included in the trust deed or not.
As you say, the funds are classed as a windfall and most banks will check and see the trust deed is in place and pay the trustee direct.

Hi jacmas.
As Mark has indicated the pregnancy and the windfall are two separate issues.
You can talk to your trustee about whether a portion could be retained for forthcoming costs, perhaps partly in lieu of your honesty about the matter, but the trustee may not feel that they are able to help in this way. No harm in asking though.
