Hi all,
Another trivial PPI question. Does your IP have an obligation to tell you that they are applying for PPI on your behalf? I have just spoken to her on the phone, my final payment is on Friday. I asked about the discharge process and there was no mention of PPI claims. Just wondering if all trust deed companies are doing the PPI thing?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks Kevin. I did think that would be the case. But I did enquire of the discharge process and she made it sound straight forward with no delays. Is it possible that some firms aren't yet investigating these claims? As with everyone in this position, I'm just keen to bring this period in my life to a close with minimal delay. We never took PPI on loans or CC's as both myself and husband have secure jobs. But wondered if they would go ahead and investigate it without our knowledge and if this would be considered bad practice.

Hi Bampot.
I'm not sure if all firms are integrating investigating PPI claims as part of protected trust deeds. I think most will probably have seen advice that this should be considered.
Like Kevin, I'd have thought you would normally be made aware. It's very hard to see how a legitimate PPI claim could be made on your behalf without any involvement from you being sought at all.
Hi all,
anyone with any experience of this? When did your firm consult you on PPI claims prior to final payment?
Again, thanks!
I got notified last week that my Trustee was going apply on my behalf for any miss sold PPI, which is no big deal.... But I had to sign the documentation to allow them to pursue it, I assume your Trustee would need you to sign the paperwork.....
Opps.... Also forgot to mention it did state in the letter that this would not delay my discharge, although to be fair I have still got 11 months to go on mine.....
i never knew anything about until i phoned my trustee about 3 months after making my final payment. i've never had to sign anything to allow them to pursue it. hope all goes smoothly for you!!
