I have paid my final payments and am waiting on my discharge forms. I was asked to sign a form and return it saying they could investigate missold PPI.

I used to work for RBS so I knew what I was getting myself into when I took out the PPI, should I inform my trust of this?

Hi Idizun

It's a pity this is only being looked at just now, once you've reached the end.

Most PPI investigations take account of the debts within the Trust Deed, but also any debts which existed prior to the trust deed which may have been repaid.

Hi Idizun.

You should make them aware of anything you consider to be relevant.

There are circumstances however where mis-selling might be identified even if you were a willing purchaser.

Hi TDA

Another point to add ( sorry) is that a successful PPI claim against RBS will result in RBS offsetting the payment against any debt in the trust deed. So in effect the trustee could pursue for PPI for a Trust Deed where the only creditors are RBS and end up with a successful challenge, but nothing is paid out.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I called AG Taggert earlier today and informed them but they seemed a little disinterested and said the investigation had more than likely already been done they just needed my signature.

Having received a text from RBS to say they have acknowledged my letter then they must have only just dealt with it.

I asked if there was anything further I need to do and they said no it's just background stuff as they prepare to for them to discharge me and that my Form 5 was sent out last Thursday. I see they have already updated the ROI with my discharge date.

Hi Idizun

That's good news that the discharge has at least been processed and registered. If you've been formally discharged, there's little for you to worry about now as it looks like the Trustee is in the process of finalising the Trust Deed.
