i entered a trust deed in feb 2007.I called my supervisor in July 2010 as pmts were still been deducted from my bank, I was told to cancel standing order as the 3 years were up. I was under the impression that this meant my deed was finished. I rec'd a cheque in Jan 2012 from a finance company that i cashed. I have now received a letter from a company saying that this cheque was in settlement of a PPI claim and it should have been sent to my supervisor. I am now worried that I unknowingly have broken the terms of my deed. I cannot afford to repay the money in a lump sum. what should I do. I have tried to contact my supervisor for advice but they have not responded to my letters and i have not had any letters from them since late 2009. will i be allowed to repay this money in instalements

Welcome to the trust deed forum cumbygirl.

Have you been formally notified that you have been discharged from your trust deed?

If you have been discharged back in 2010 a PPI payment now would be yours to keep.

Maybe you should check the Register of Insolvencies on the AIB's website and see whether the trust deed shows as being completed?

I have not recieved any notification that trust deed was discharged. I didnt know that this was process. The letter i have now rec'd from finance company states that they have been appointed by trust deed supervisor to act on their behalf to make PPI claimms so I assume trust deed not yet discharged.

Hi again cumbygirl.

I'm afraid that does sound a little worrying.

Could you please check the register of insolvencies as suggested by Kevin and let us know what you find?

I think in that case you'll need to contact your trust deed provider to confirm whether or not you have been discharged.

You'll also want to check that the firm that has contacted you has indeed been appointed by your trustee.
