Hi there, I'm wondering.. I work for the NHS and am not currently in the pension scheme. I'm presuming I'm not allowed to sign upto this until after my trust deed has finished?

Hello Nemo1.

You can join your pension scheme.

The issue is whether you'd then need to request a reduction in your trust deed payment. If not I'd have thought it would be fine.

As trust deed assistant says, a pension contribution is a reasonable expense, however if it means that you cannot meet the contribution payments proposed to creditors then that would be more problematic.

I think I'll just be leaving it until 5 years down the line when TD is finished. Thanks both

Hi Nemmo1, I'm a sad person that works in pensions! You may have seen in the news that the Government are introducing auto-enrolment in pension schemes, so the NHS may automatically enrol you in their pension scheme (depending on whether you are eligible). Don't worry though, as you can still make the decision to opt-out of the scheme if you wish.
