Hi lizzzy and welcome to the trust deed forum.

I appreciate Christmas can be a difficult time when your budget is restricted by a trust deed (or for any other reason). Each year members of this forum share ideas, suggestions and discoveries that help to make the period as manageable as possible.

In the following thread our experts explain that a payment break isn't offered for Christmas and various members make suggestions that might be of use to you:

In this next thread there are some ideas and sage advice from members of the site that also might be of interest:

We couldn't possibly advise you to miss a payment to your trust deed without the agreement of your Trustee, but of course you must make your own decisions on this.
If you did miss a payment at a very minimum I'd expect that your trust deed would be extended so that your creditors did not lose out on what they agreed to in your original proposal to them.

Thankyou for your reply. i am totally stressed out and wish i was better advised about a trust deed because if wish i had never done it. I know i only have myself to blame but i feel in a worse sittuation because i never have a spare ยฃ to spend on anything nice for myself. I am just feeling sorry for myself. Thanks for listening x

I can but sympathise while offering the view that as one who has come to the end of a 3 year PTD, you will need to bite through the pain barrier for a few more Xmases/birthdays/holidays - but it is worth it and extending the PDP/missing payments when events come around will only add to your misery.

You say you wish you had not signed a PDP? Deep down, did you have an a viable alternative?

Sorry for my outburst yesterday, I was feeling very down and sorry for myself. No, i did not have another alternative and at the time the trust deed was a god send because thinking back i was definately in a worse situation back then. I know i will have to stay strong and just get on with the payments because in less than 3 years time i will be dept free. Thankyou for listening to me

Hi Lizzy and welcome to the Forum

We are all entitled to have a outburst at some point! Being skint is never easy, especially at Christmas. Hopefully you will feel it was worth it when you are finished. In the meantime, only your Trustee can decide if you can miss a payment, and as TDA says, I would imagine you have to add it on at the end. Hang in there!

Hi lizzzy.

It depends a little on what your arrangement is with them on overtime, and also whether they feel your expenses will have increased in line with inflation as well.

They should be able to update you on this fairly easily if you give them a call.
