Hi,
I applied for child disability payment fro my youngest child back in March. I gave my bank details at the time. i had no further correspondence from them until i received a letter on the 15th Sep saying Oscar had been awarded the highest rate and that they were paying a back pament of £1900 for him into my account. This was my old account that was included in my trust deed protected on 5/6/23. I can change bank details going forward but what happens to his award, does he simply lose it? This money was for adaptions to be done in his room to make it sensory as he is very autistic. Can anyone give me any advice?

You should be able to withdraw these funds from that account, as the funds are benefits belonging to your child and therefore not payable into your Trust Deed. However the bank will probably need confirmation from your trustee that they have no interest in the funds before they will allow the transaction to take place. Probably best to get in touch with the bank first and they will probably give you details to pass on to your trustee for to contact them with the appropriate confirmation.
