Hi
I had a protected trust deed with an insolvency firm in Glasgow. This has been finalised for well over a year. I recently checked my credit report on Experian and two of my accounts covered by the deed have outstanding balances another credit card account has been marked as 'Partial Settlement' and the balance set to 'Satisfied'. These outstanding balances are having an adverse effect on my credit score.

Can I request that the other companies mark their accounts as 'Partial Settlement' and change the balance to 'Satisfied'. If so what is the process?

I understand that they will be purged from my report in 6 years from date of original default but I'd like to clear it up earlier if possible. Thanks for any advice!

Regards,
Colin.

Hi ColinC and welcome to the forum.

You will need to contact each of the creditors individually and request that they update your credit status to indicate that there is now no debt to them.

Provided that they comply promptly with your request this should not prove to be too difficult, though it will of course be sensible to continue to follow-up with them until you can see that it's all complete.

Thanks for your fast response. I will contact the account holders and see if I can get things cleared up.

Are the balances still shown as defaulted/in arrears before you have completed your trust deed? My partner is obtaining his report just now and we don't know what to expect. He completes his in June.

I think you will find that the debts do still show as outstanding and in default up until the trust deed is finished and you are formally discharged.
