So here I am exactly one year into my PTD and I just know it is the best decision I ever made. I survived christmas and paid cash for everything - can't remember the last time that was possible. I can't believe how quickly this year has gone and although it hasn't been easy it has definitely been worth it.

Thank you to all those who have helped with support and words of encouragement. This really is a great forum. ๐Ÿ™‚

It does go very fast. Although we found the last 8 months dragged a little. Maybe because I had the countdown in days!!!!

It won't be long till you're posting on here, asking what's involved in the discharge process. The first Christmas post signing is an interesting one. It seems strange paying in cash for all the stuff that you normally try to forget in Januarys credit card bill.

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

Well done to you worriedme.

Forums naturally tend to attract posts from people that are worried or who have experienced problems. It's great to get the contrary view which, I think, is the one that most people actually experience.

Great feeling paying cash for Christmas, my office was full of moans recently about the size of their CC bills. Had a wry smile on my face that day.

People at work think I'm strange for always using cash instead of my debit card. 'Stick it on the card and worry about it later' was always my mantra. I always know now how much cash I have to the penny these days and am very comfortable knowing there is no fat credit card statement envelope ever going to thump onto the doormat again! I'm 2 years in and it has gone extremely quickly. I don't want to wish my life away but if I could just go to bed and wake up in a year debt-free, that'd be fine with me.

Glad that's over with....
