I now have just 6 payments left to run on my Trust Deed - the last of which I will make on 15th June, 163 days from now. Not that I'm counting!

36 months seemed like an eternity when I was starting out on this journey, but here I am 5/6ths of the way through, and the time has passed far more quickly than I'd expected.

Having said that though, I have to be honest - it has not been easy. Being permanently skint for three years isn't a great deal of fun, nor has it been pleasant having to continually excuse myself from nights out and other social events with friends and colleagues. I've been forced to learn how to cut my cloth and live on a budget - after two and a half years I think I've just about got the hang of it now!

On the plus side though, the experience has been a valuable one, and it has given me a sense of perspective that I would never have gained otherwise.

It's certainly not a quick fix or an easy option but it has worked so far in my case. My only regret and the only thing I'd do differently is that I didn't put enough time and effort into researching different trustees at the outset.

To anyone considering or just starting out on a Trust Deed - while it may seem daunting, you should not be overly perturbed. I fully expect that when I come out the other side of this process, I will look back and know that I made the right decision.

Hi imcville

Good to hear that you are getting closer to the end of your TD and that you have managed (albeit stuggling)to get this far into the process. When I first heard about trust deeds I thought that 3 years was a relatively short period of time to clear the mess that I had taken many more years to get myself into. Counting down just now to the time when my TD will hopefully become protected and then the 3 years I imagine will not seem like such a short period but from that point my countdown will begin.

Good luck and keep us updated on your situation.

Hey imcville

Congrats for getting this far. You'll soon be at the place we all aspire to be at - debt free with no intention of ever going back there.

Good luck with the last few months.

Cheers,

DebtFreeWannabee
