Hi , I would be interested in some expert advice please !
I spoke very briefly to Mark at the end of last year , he gave me some good advice and left me with lots of information.
We did think about the trust deed route carefully , but in the end decided to put our house on the market and thus after selling reduce our debts over possibly the next 5 years !I took another loan out at the start of the year and paid credit cards off , but through some work on house to get it ready for sale and the costs of home reports ect...i have run up card to about ?ú1500 !
The housing market is very slow and we have had little interest over the last 6 weeks ...we have after home report a maximum of ?ú10k equity , but will not achieve this even in best case scenario as people will want money off after house being on market for 4 months !!
My partner has debt of around ?ú25k through loans and cards...i have around ?ú16k debt. I suppose we have tried to do deal with our debt by selling house and taking on a smaller house , but this hasnt worked !Something i worry about is how would the loan i took early in the year affect the prospects of a Trust deed being accepted ? We cant wait forever for the house to sell as we are just going to get deeper and deeper....?
Hope to hear from you soon !!

Thanks .

Hi stretch

it's a fairly common question to be honest.

I don't think there's an issue if you looked at all the options and decided to follow what you thought was best. The Trust Deed is 1 solution out of 3 possible others and there is no problem with you taking advice, looking at all the option and following a plan to resolve matters.

Mark

PS From memory that was the 8am meeting

Hi mark.... Your memory must be good ... Yes it was an early meeting ! I think you where heading through to Glasgow .

I take it when you mention 3 options , they are ... Trust deed / debt managment plan/sequestration ?

Can you tell me roughly how long it takes to gather information and get to the point of agreeing a solution ? Is it weeks or months in general ?
Thanks again .... Stretch .

Hi Stretch

I was picking someone up from Edinburgh airport, from memory, so it fitted in perfectly.

The options are DMP, DAS, Trust Deed and Sequestration.

The solution depends on your circumstances I suppose, however with combined debts of approx ?ú41k, I think you need to look at a formal option which at least has a definite time period. I'm not sure how long the Debt Arrangement Scheme takes, but Trust Deeds can be days as opposed to weeks or months.

Hi Stretch,

We've heard from people, who have contacted us via the site, that there can be some delays getting a meeting with a DAS approved money advsior. I understand that they are pretty busy at the moment.

I guess the most important thing however is to establish which is the best solution to fit the situation. It would be better in the long-run to take your time arranging the right solution rather than rushing into the wrong one.

Working through the situation with a source of advice that you have reason to trust would probably be the best thing to do at this stage.

Hi TD Advisor , at the end of last year I did attempt to contact an advisor for some advice . After handing in my paperwork and waiting for almost 3months I gave up and asked for my stuff back !! They said they were so busy and only had a couple of specialists .
So I will be in touch with Mark again after a short while getting things organised !
Thanks for your reply !
Stretch .

Hi Stretch,

From what we hear from other visitors to the site you'll be in safe hands with Mark.

Fortunately we're also able to say the same about Kevin and Julie.
