Hi John and welcome to the forum.

Well done on taking what can feel like the hardest step in reaching out for advice and help to deal with your debts.

Can you give me an idea of which companies the credit cards are with? Reason I ask is some lenders have strict criteria when it comes to Trust Deeds which can make it a little tricky when making a proposal to them.. Barclaycard for example are one lender than can be tricky to deal with.

In terms of your options, if you feel like there is no end date in sight for your debts then a Trust Deed along with a Debt Arrangement Scheme or even Sequestration (Bankruptcy) could be the answer. All of these options will give you a fixed timescale and an end date to becoming debt free which I think is what you are looking for.

In the vast majority of cases a client is able to retain their vehicle so I don't have any real concerns about you loosing your car.

If you didn't have to pay your debts and only you living costs how much do you think you could afford to pay towards a plan?

Try to remain positive as you will have solutions to help with your debts and I'm sure Kevin or I the two experts on the forum will be able to help.

Hi John

As David has said, there are options that may work for you without necessarily meaning you lose your car. You would really need to go through your circumstances in a bit more detail with an expert before we could say what might be suitable for you.

We're obviously not here to give careers advice, though I always think life's too short to be working a job you hate unless you really have no choice. Hopefully by getting advice on your debts then it might give you back that element of choice. You may feel you can afford to look for something else that you would rather do for a living instead and not have to worry too much about a possible fall in income as a result.
