I have just been offered a position with Santander having recently been made redundant.

Filled out the financial application form, stated that I was in a Trust Deed and now am panicking that I won't get the job - I've told everyone that I have it - HELP!!!!

Try not to worry, best to be honest from day one!

Also - a Trust Deed shows you have acknowledged you had a debt problem and dealt with it - much better than them doing a credit check and seeing you have a problem that you have ignored!

Hello blondie10.

I'd like to add my welcome to that of Scotslad.

It's good that you've been open and honest; any employer would take that to be a good sign.

However, some types of employer including banking institutions might have criteria about insolvency (including trust deeds) in their recruitment procedures.

You may wish to call the recruitment/HR team there to ask about their acceptance procedures if this is causing you worry now.

Thank you both for your welcome!

I did state to the recruitment guy about it but he did say HR would be doing the checks - just a case of waiting to find out - fingers crossed!!!

I am also going through a similar process. I got offered a job at a large finance company. They have been doing their checks, Financial, References etc for 2 weeks now. I should know within the next week.

I have been worried sick the whoile time and like you, have told people I have been offered the job. I'll let you know how I get on!

Hello,

Just thought i'd let you all know that after weeks of Security and Finance checks, I have been offered a permanent job with the Finance Industry.

I was completely honest with their HR department from the start, which was just as well, as of course it showed up on my records. They had a few questions but were fine.

It just goes to show that not all jobs within Finance are to be ruled out because of a Trust Deed.

Blondie10 - Sorry to hear you were unsuccessful with Santander. I can only assume this is down to the fact that they were one of your creditors! Well done on your new job though!

So don't be put off applying for jobs within Finance.

Rosie
