Half way through my TD and last week my car decided to pack up, garage have said that major job not much change out of a grand... I had hoped that my car would see me through to the end of my TD but no such luck.

The car is just not worth spending that amount of money on so it's heading for the scrap yard. It was written down that my car was worth less than £3000 and my trustee had no interest in it. Does that mean I can dispose of it and get another car (with help from family members) without too much trouble from my trustee.

I would have thought so AlphaB.

You could either run it by your trustee to make sure they're happy with it, or become the "registered keeper" and user of a new car that is still owned by one of your family.

Hi AlphaB,

That's unfortunate about your car and a costly repair bill.

Yes, you can dispose of it and either purchase a new car worth less than the £3,000 or as TDA said, a family member can allow you the use of their car.

Make sure you send your Trustee a copy of the Certificate of Destruction for their file and advise them of any new vehicle.
