I have had my PTD since January 2012. I am planning to move in with my partner in December 2013. She is currently receiving benefits and gets half of her mortgage paid, she has two children also. I have read in other forum posts that as long as she was making a contribution towards the bills then everything should work out. Is a reasonable contribution a split based on each others income. my income is roughly 3 times hers and so I am worried my creditors will see this as me funding her and the kids from their share? What happens if this brings my available income down below what was previously agreed?

I realise similar posts to this have been posted previously but none seem to have the exact situation I have?

Thanks

Andy

Welcome to the forum Andy.

There's a bit of confusion surrounding this issue at the moment.

On the one hand insolvency practitioners are being told not to directly factor in the income of a partner.

On the other hand there's an obvious need to apportion joint household costs in a way that's fair to the creditors, the partner and the individual that's in a trust deed.

Your trustee will probably have to exercise some judgment and discretion to find a solution that's fair for all involved.

I doubt that this will create a problem for you though and suggest talking it through with your trustee once you've got a good idea of the numbers that will be involved.

You may find that as long as you are able to keep paying the same it will all be fine. Do you expect this to be the case or are you going to have less to pay into the td?

Who is you trust deed firm?

Thanks

It might turn out less as she will lose about ยฃ900 in benefits when I move in. Its looking like a 75%/25% split and it depends whether all expenses are split or just the household ones. I will give them a call tomorrow. it is with WRI.
