I know how tough it is going through a trust deed, anxiety, confusion and all the questions that run through your head.

Anyway I wanted to share some positive news that may help some people all be it some circumstances could differ for people.

I was discharged from my trust deed in October 2023 having started in Ocotber 2018.

Myself and my wife were looking to move home and initially thought we had no chance because of my trust deed and credit position.

After some research we discovered our mortgage was portable, plus the fact we had some equity in our property. This meant we could apply to RBS to port our mortgage to a new property at a higher value, providing we bridge the difference and increase the deposit. We could maintain the the same interest rate, which was fixed for another 2 years and not pay an early settlement.ย

Honestly such a huge relief.

I was fully transparent in the application process and the affordability was all ok, this meant the underwriters could make a fair assessment of their risk.

Anyway thought it was worth sharing as it may be an option for some.
