It just depends how long it takes the Trustee to conclude their work on your case. Despite me telling mine I had no PPI, they still took over a year to investigate it after I had been discharged. I'm not sure why they couldn't have done this while I was in my TD.

So I was discharged in March 2014 but it took until October 2016 for my trustee to be discharged meaning my TD still appears on the ROI site.

Thanks mapleleaf. I did have PPI so this does explain that. I've never got involved in the PPI claims though I just left tthem to it. I didn't know the trust deed was registered on the roi for a further year, so it's made me look at the mortgage application differently.

Just thought I would update on my experience - me and my partner went for our first mortgage appt on saturday and have now got an agreement in principal with a high street bank. I was upfront with the broker and said I had been in a trust deed however was discharged, it is no longer on my credit report and all the defaults have fallped off also. He didn't seem too fazed by this and said due to everything having gone from my credit report and the good size deposit we have he didn't see any cause for concern. I know we are not quite there yet in terms of putting in a full mortgage application however he seems confident an application will go through due to us now having the agreement in principal so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

That's great - well done! I'm speaking with a broker now who has a few lenders who are an option for me. I've also been in touch with Glasgow credit union yesterday who has said they'll consider my application as it's help to buy and I meet the affordability checks with them. No credit search etc has been carried out but tthat should all work out good anyway. I'm waiting on the broker responding tomorrow and then I'll decide what's best to do from there. Keep us posted on your progress ๐Ÿ™‚

Please could someone advise a mortgage company that will offer a mortgage 2 1/2 years after being discharged from TD. I don't know where to start really, but have to move to a bigger property as my circumstances have changed

Welcome to the forum Coco28.

We always advise people to contact a mortgage broker and have them look into the options for you.

They can quickly research which lenders might be able to help you. They also have access to lenders that you do not and which you might never have heard of.

By contrast, you could spend huge amounts of time personally approaching the wrong lenders and getting nowhere.

Hi

A light at the end of the tunnel... I myself had a trust deed and I was discharged in FEB 2018. I was approved for my mortgage by Scotwest at 90% LTV in November 2018. I completed in December and I am now a new HOME OWNER!

Scotwest credit union are amazing, they are thourough with their checks of documents; paylsips, bank statements, savings but are so helpful. They only use certain mortgage brokers... I can ceratinly recommend the one I used.

Glasgow credit Union will also offer a 85%LTV I am told.

I hope this helps, I know the journey is tough but you are so close!
