Looking for a wee bit of advice.

We have been accepted by the council through their right to buy scheme and they have made us a very good offer, and this includes discount of ยฃ15,000.

My trust deed finished a year ago and I was discharged two months later. I have a decent steady income and secured a credit card last September (which I have paid on time every month since, using it wisely).

Has anyone had experience of trying to get a mortgage in these circumstances, or can they recommend a decent firm to speak to please?

Hello tinsoldier.

I cannot point you towards a particular firm, but in general we'd advise contacting a couple of local mortgage brokers to see whether there are any mortgage products available that meet your needs and circumstances.

The discount is very useful as it provides a buffer for the lender in case something goes wrong (like a deposit would do for some purchasers).

Maybe someone will have a personal experience of this scenario already that they can share with you...
