I have been discharged this August from my 4 year trust deed. Is it at all possible to consider getting a mortgage anytime soon? I have just over a 5% deposit to put down.

Thank you

Hi charlie girl

The subject has came up on the forum many times and the main problem will be that the trust deed will still show on your credit file. Once this drops off, then the may be a better chance of securing a mortgage.

There are a number of factors involved in securing a mortgage and the size of the deposit seems to be among the most important. It may be that a mortgage broker can look into this for you, although your credit file will prove to be a major stumbling block at this time.

Hi charlie_girl.

You might find the following article to be a useful read:

Saving up the very biggest deposit that you can will give you a better chance (and potentially a better deal) when the time comes.
