My wife and I have just over a year left of our trust deed. Unfortunately though we have separated. We are splitting our time at the house until it's over. The mortgage is in joint names. I was wondering if anyone knew if when it's over could we stay with mortgage company but have separate accounts? We haven't missed any payments with them.

Thanks

That's up to the mortgage lender davyj.

I'm afraid I doubt they'll do anything that they consider will weaken the security on the money owed to them. Part of that security is the joint and several liability that exists on the debt currently.

Not sure exactly what you mean. If one person were to take on the mortgage, it woud depend on their salary etc. if they could afford it on onne salary. I dont think the mortgage would be split between you though if that is what you mean?
