Hi, this may be a really stupid question and I'm sure someone will tell me but what is the benefit of a pre-paid credit card? If you have to put the money on it before you can use it then it's not really credit, what is the difference to just a debit card?

Purchases are protected more - if bought online or instore - than with a debit card or cash.

I think it's worth inspecting the protection afforded by any particular individual credit or debit card.

They do vary.

However, credit cards often do include extra layers of protection for a consumer.

mine has Mastercard behind it. Effectively, it is both a debit/switch card and a credit card depends on who's asking!

The point is you can't increase your debt but if you manage to budget for a little savings and it's on the card, you don't have any problem with paying bills, hiring a car etc

I found our o2 card an ideal way of putting our vehicle tax and maintenance money out of the way so it didnt just get spent.
