Hi I have been in a trust deed for the last 2 years. I was wondering if it would be ok for me to apply for a new mobile phone contract to reduce my monthly bills. I have tried to find the answer on google but getting some conflicting information.

Thanks

Hello kel2013 and welcome.

There's a lot of rubbish available online!

You can apply for a new mobile contract. We've had posters here accepted. We've also had posters turned down. Sometimes it might be easier to renegotiate with your existing provider.

But... there's nothing at all that stops you from applying during a trust deed.

Do you have a contract mobile just now? Staying with the same provider increases the chances of success as no credit check is needed.

Hi kel2013,

A lot of it comes down to risk for the mobile provider and any lender who is effectively giving you credit.

As Paul said if you remain with your current provider you may be able to change tarriif and reduce your bill without the need for a credit check. Before cancelling your current contract I would find out if you are able to move providers that way your not left without a contract if you do have difficulties in taking out a new one.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hi Kel 2013,Im currently in a trust deed,I tried August last year to change provider and got knocked back,as plasticdaft said its worthwhile staying with your current provider, perhaps going sim only to reduce your costs, but there is no harm in trying you never know your luck.
