Hi, I am thinking of joining the military reservists, would this be allowed with Trustee and would the bounty that is paid (initially around £400 a year) be taken off me? Obviously this is not something I am doing for the money but would just like to know before I sign on the dotted line.

Hi juliet.

Here's what we learned when we asked the army about military service and trust deeds:

It seems as though you should disclose it to the recruiters, though it may well not be an issue.

I cannot imagine your trustee will have any issue with it.

Obviously there's the potential for an increased contribution if your income increases from any source. As the sum of money involved isn't huge you may find that your trustee shows some flexibility, though of course it should be discussed in advance so you know where you stand.
