Following on from my discharge and other posters successful applications, I applied this afternoon for a credit account.

Unsuccessful[V] Disappointing as I have been discharged and my credit file reports this.

Just have to be more patient I guess but think it's important to report back any success/fail stories here to help other posters.

Hi CIF,

That's unfortunate about the unsuccessful application especially when you read about other people having a little more success applying for credit after their Trust Deed's.

I've found that different lenders have different acceptance criteria when you apply for credit with them. It can be down to income, age, credit rating, time at current address, employment status and even time with current employer etc.

Last year I applied for a credit card with a well known high street bank. I had just moved address (within the last 6 months) from a rented property to a property which we purchased. You would think that being property owners with fairly decent credit ratings the bank would have had no problem in providing me with a credit card. I was wrong in assuming this as I was rejected for the credit card. Disappointed and surprised I managed to work out it was because of my recent change of address and time living at the new property. This wasn't something which the automated computer system liked so rejected me. Computer say's no!

I applied for a credit card with a different high street bank with exactly the same details and was approved for the credit card.

Things should gradually start to repair for you and in time I'm sure you'll be able to secure credit should you wish.

Thanks for the post David.

Appreciate it will all just take time - never have been the most patient.

On the upside, I got a letter in from Vanquis today increasing my credit limit to £550 from £150.
