I've posted on here a few times asking for advice on getting a Mortgage after a Trust deed and can happily say it is possible!

I entered my Trust Deed on 14th Feb 2011, I was discharged last May, later than most because of Mat Leave (Trustee is discharging now) so I still have a record on the Record of Insolvency. I have been monitoring my Credit file for the last year, writing to every Creditor asking for my information to reflect my Trust Deed date. Some had the incorrect default date, even up to a year later. It took some time to do this so I'd advise giving yourself plenty of time. Equifax were extremely helpful and contacted Lenders as well for me.

6 years on, my file is excellent (Experian, equifax and call credit - check all 3!) and I've got a Decision in Principle. I used a whole of market broker and was completely upfront about my situation and they in turn were upfront with the Lenders. I also had a 10% deposit.

Hope this gives some hope to everyone else. I always knew it would take 6 years from date of registering and although it was a long time I'm extremely happy with my financial future!

Life after a trust deed is good 😉

This is fantastic news Buzzbee. I’m sure this will give some confidence to other people who are looking at life after a Trust Deed. Thanks for coming back onto the forum to share the good news.

Have you seen a house that you like / made any offers on one?

Hi I'm in the process of applying for a mortgage also. I am 3 years discharged this summer. Credit rating also vastly improved and have a large deposit. However my application is with Halifax with whomI had student debt with that was included in my trust deed. I'm really hoping it doesn't affect my chances?!
