Hello all,

I entered into a protected trustdeed in january 2006. all the creditors agreed and the trustdeed ended on in january 2009 and so in total it has been 8 years almost 9 since the trust deed began and 5 almost 6 years since the trustdeed ended. I was led to believe that by now all this would be behind me and that everthing would be closed and that I could put that awful chapter of my life behind me. However this morning I get a letter from a company called TTI SPC saying how thay had bought some account which had already been previously bought and sold between various agencies. I do not recognise any of these as companies I have had personal dealings with in the past. They do say in the letter that they will be unlikely to contact me again and that will instead deal directly with my Nominee or Supervisor.

I really don't understand why this is happening? It looks to me like after all parties involved agreed to my trustdeed and it was signed and protected and even after it was finished the old debts have been sold on to various insolvancy companies. I don't understand how this can be still going on so long after the trustdeed has ended. Also will this affect my credit file? I my financal conduct has been squeeky clean since entering my trustdeed and all defaults etc should now be gone from my file, but will this company sniffing around cause new black marks against my name to appear? I am hoping to buy a home soon with my new partner and I really don't want this affecting things.

Also how long can I expect this to go on for really, will I still be getting letters from debt collectors 10 years from now, does it in fact never really end.

I did make some terrible mistakes in my late teens and early twenties with money but I did try to do the right thing and sort it out legally, and nobody objected at the time it is just so frustrating how it is still haunting me now.

Any help or advice with the above would be great.

Ok in addition I just did a very got a very basic credit report for myself one of the ones that costs £2 and all that is mentioned on it is my monthly mobile phone contract I can see no mention to the trustdeed or any of my old debts that were covered by it. I hope that is a good thing but then perhaps the basic report isn't really a very good indicator.

Welcome to the forum kate01.

You really don't need to worry. No matter what anyone writes in a letter, if the debt was covered by your trust deed it simply doesn't exist.

I cannot see how this could affect your credit file in any way.

Anything that goes on your credit file only stays there for six years which is why your trust deed no longer shows up there.

Thank you that does make me feel better, hopefully if they contact my trustee they will be able to remove my details from their files, if they no longer can claim anything from me. I have no debt after my trustdeed and it was all included, except my mobile phone contract which has always been paid.
Thank you again

Hi kate

It's certainly strange but as TDA says, if it was included in the trust deed then there's no way to pursue it, regardless if the debt was sold on or not.

They're probably just chancing their arm.
