And finally the last payment no 36 is gone from my account and my s/o is cancelled. Is it to early to celebrate being debt free or do I have to wait on my discharge before its all official. I'm tempted to phone my IP to ask about the timescale for my form 5 - but I'll give it a week for things to settle, is that wise?
Hi sparky1.
Congratulations to you. You're officially debt free once you've been issued the Form 5... hopefully will not take too long.
I cannot see any harm in asking about the timescale as soon as you wish.
Well done sparky1.
I called our IP to check all payments were made a few days after the last payment went, gave them time to do their accounts. I asked at this time what the time scale would be for them to send out my Form5 they said soon, it was v.v.soon the same month.
Good luck for the future.
Completed 3yr TD Sept '12 discharged Sept '12. Trustee discharged Jan '13
Building up savings.
Thanks to you both. I'm tempted to phone today but I'm not...I'll give them a ring on Thursday to see what's going on.
I wasn't able to withstand the wait until Thursday and I phoned today...and the systems were down, typical :o)
Anyway, was promised a call tomorrow morning so keep your fingers crossed for me its good news.
Hi sparky1,
Well done on the final payment and completion of your Trust Deed.
I would always encourage someone to give their case manager a call about anything and especially someone in your situation as you will want to receive the Form 5 as quick as you can.
Good luck for the future.

Thanks David. I have just had my call back and they have confirmed that all my payments are in and the closure process is about to start. I'm a bit disheartened (I could think of another word but...) I've been told that it could take a few months to get my form 5. I touched on being discharged whilst my IP remains in office as no property is involved but I was told that I would be discharged when my IP is discharged.
That's good to hear about all your payments but disappointing to hear about the Form 5.
If you have completed all of your obligations and payments then I see no reason why you should not obtain your discharge and Form 5. On occasion you may speak with someone who doesn't realise that you can be discharged via a Form 5 whilst your Trustee remains in office to close the case. I would ask to speak with someone more senior about your case and request the Form 5 to be sent out. If they refuse ask them why.
I would also keep on top of them to ensure that the closure of your case is progressed quickly. Sometimes unfortunately to get things done you need to make a little bit of a nuisance of yourself and stand your ground which can push things along for you.
