Meant to ask, I have a together mortgage with northern rock, joint unsecured loan which has been included in RD and a joint overdraft of 600 which hasn't bn included as my partner will be responsible. Will both of these companies make contact with him to repay?

Hi prenticebaby.

snuf_88 is correct. With joint debts the creditor is entitled to seek payment of the full amount from either or both of you. If you're in a trust deed they'll seek payment from your partner in the normal way, though your partners liability will eventually be reduced by any dividend the creditor gets from your trust deed.

Hi prenticebaby

I have spoke with you since this post, but just to confitm for others that a partner is liable for any joint debts, however that is taken into account when looking at the household income and expenditure.

Shona is not currently posting in the Trust-Deed.co.uk forum.

Shona has contacted me to re-confirm this. We discussed this at the initial meeting but I forgot the answer due to all the other questions I asked! Thanks
