Myself and partner have been in a trust deed for just about a year now. My daughter has just been offered a job in a major high St Bank subject to credit checks. Will my credit history affect her job. We all live at same address.

Hi gettingitsorted

Great news for your daughter. I don't see the trust deed being an issue here.

I'm sure it will be fine.

Hi gettingitsorted.

There are lots of misconceptions about credit records and shared addresses.

Everyone has their own credit record which, itself, isn't affected by the actions of others that live at the same address.

However, if members of the same household have joint financial arrangements a "link" between their credit records may be created. The most common examples are a joint mortgage or joint current account.

This link may encourage someone doing a credit check to look at the credit record of the connected person. Most typically this will be applicable to lenders. For example, many will choose not to lend to a wife with an unblemished credit record if her husband to whom she is financially linked is in serious debt and arrears.

I doubt you have any joint financial arrangements with your daughter so there should be no problems at all as Mark has already stated.
