[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

I emailed my trustee at the end of last week to advise that I was setting my last payment, at the end of August, at a higher payment than normal, due to missing a few payments last year when the missus had our wee girl. This was all pre-approved, and I was just confirming the final big payment to end my 3 years in purgatory.

What a surprise when I opened my emails after work today, to find that I had misunderstood, and I only owe an additional £35 to complete my trust deed!! I've set the payment to leave tomorrow, and have been told I should be discharged within a few weeks afterwards.

I'm chuffed to bits, this is great timing, as my fiance is about to have a wee boy, and we were kinda dreading a bigger payment at the end of this month, with a 5-week month ahead before junior is born. I actually cried a little.

Onward and upward from here, time to check the credit file, make sure everything's updated properly, and start rebuilding the rating, in the vague hope of getting a mortgage in a few years.

Only discovered this place a few months ago, and glad I did, as I've had great bits of advice from loads of folk, and tried to help others where I could. I won't be a stranger, even if I end up just lurking most of the time, as the whole experience has changed me immensely (see the crying above).

Just a few more weeks to go!!

It's good to hear from you Kamikaze Bob.

Hopefully that £35 has gone out of your account today?!

That's wonderful news and especially wonderful timing. Congratulations on completing your trust deed.

It would be great if you could pop into the forum from time to time. Your experience of having worked through the process from start to finish will be of great value to other visitors who are contemplating the option or who are in the early stages of it.

Best wishes with the busy period you have ahead of you as well.

Thanks guys. And yes, the final £35 left the account this morning. Now positively looking forward, rather than trudging through every month.

Life begins again!!

That's good to hear Kamikaze Bob. Sounds like the closure process worked pretty smoothly and promptly.
