I'm not sure about the others, but early to mid January certainly appears to show an increase in both personal and corporate enquiries. Just curious why this is.

I remember the AIB talking recently about 'iceberg' insolvency, where there were far more people struggling under the surface and they seemed to suggest a future rise in numbers or at least numbers to match the previous quarters. There was also some articles on peoples thoughts on the future year ahead with the focus on a majority of people who thought they would struggle with rent and mortgage payments which makes you wonder what a potential mortgage rate increase would do.

It seems to contradict the supposed confidence in the market, increase in house values etc so it will be interesting to see how the year progresses.

Would be interested to hear what other people think.

Hi Mark.

The number of people that are currently visiting the site suggests that many people continue to worry about their finances and are considering how best to proceed.

The cost of housing, renting or buying, certainly seems to put a strain on many family's finances. That's going to be exacerbated when mortgage rates increase. Previously the economic "experts" were talking about that being a couple of years away but I've noticed them starting to speculate that it could happen sooner than that now.

Hi TDA

I think you could be right, there certainly seems to be mutterings that any rise will be sooner rather than later. Although I tend not to focus on these things too much as it tends to be heresay or the normal doom and gloom reporting. Like when you hear about the disaster that Tesco had a 1.2% drop in profits, so they only made a zillion pound profit last year as opposed to a wee bit more the year before.

Well seeing its nearly 5pm on a Friday!
