I was on the phone last month to the two insurance companies I have life insurance with to change my bank details. Imagine my horror to find out that if anything happens to me that my policies would be paying out to Begbie Traynor for a trust deed that was discharged in 2011!! I have telephoned BT three times now and also emailed them asking for copies of all the letters they were supposed to send out to everyone stating my TD was now fully discharged. Needless to say no response! I am now concerned that the small pensions I have are also still signed over to them as well as my mortgage! Is there anyone I can complain to about all this not being sorted out at the end of the TD if BT do not get back to me this week?

I sent my original letter confirming my discharge to one of the insurance companies who promised to send it back and guess what? Yes, it never came back so now I have no proof other than a photocopy of the letter!

Can someone advise me please on this situation as I am gutted that if anything happens to me that my partner and my son will have nothing!! [:(]

Hi RBD, I would ask you BT for a replacement form 5 and send to your insurance companies (this should be streight forward). Send recored delivery (a copy) so you can track eveything back or get and email address and PDF a copy over. If you are offically dischared you can also make reference to AIB listing.

TT.

Hi RBD421.

This could turn out to be an admin error at the insurance companies, but you're still entitled to a response to your enquiries.

As you have been discharged I cannot imagine that any payout would go to anyone other than the intended beneficiaries though,

Your mortgage and pension would not have been signed over.

Any payout would certainly not be paid to your former trustee, but it is definitely something that it is best to get sorted now so that if the worst did happen (touch wood) then there would be less delays in the process.

Agree that the interest noted in the policy(ies) should now be lifted given that you have been discharged.

Send a recorded letter to the Insurance Co with a copy of your discharge (Form 5) once you have another copy.

Hi folks thanks for your advice and comments. I received a response from BT and have been promised copies of the letters. Still haven't received them so sent another email tonight chasing these also asked for a copy of From 5 which I never received. However, could this be just a letter confirming my discharge?

Just want to get all of this sorted so I know everything is correct.

Good news in that I got a Vanquis Credit Card which I am religiously paying in full each month, to hopefully help build up good credit references again. Although, my mortgage, etc, has always been paid on time as other things (other than my bad debts from years ago)so hopefully by this time next year I will have a nice clean looking credit file! Cant wait! [:D]
