Only about 3 months remaining on my TD 🙂

Can somebody enlighten me as to what happens at the end?

Do I have to do a last 6 month review, fill out any forms, or any other formalities?
Is it just a case of my direct debit stops, and a few weeks/months later I get the magical all clear letter?

Amorphous,

Congratulations on reaching this milestone. The end is in sight.

The Trustee should have a note in their diary that you are approaching the end. They should write to you with instructions of what to do and what happens next. There is no harm in calling at the time to confirm all agreed payments have been made and advise you are cancelling your standing order.

On receipt of all contributions and all funds from any assets, the Trustee can prepare your discharge. This can theoretically be done in a number of weeks. This will be confirmed to you in writing.

The trustee will then remain in office to wind the case down, pay dividends and then seek their own discharge. Any PPI will have to be dealt with first though.

Depending on the timing of your last contribution against the anniversary of your case, I think it would be unlikely that you would be asked to complete a form. It does happen in some cases however. If you receive one I would just suggest sending it back as quickly as possible, not to hold up your completion!

Glad to hear you are nearly there, amorphous. Rob makes a good point about PPI - do you know if your trustee has already looked into the possibility of reclaiming this? If not, you may wish to clarify this with them as some firms seem to be leaving this until the last minute and then delaying discharge until it has been done, which seems very unfair to me.

My last payment was a year ago. KPMG told me they would look to discharge me last November but didnt. I then got a letter saying they were now looking into PPI. They are totally dragging their feet and I'm so fed up with it all. So a year later I still have no end in sight! They are now looking at taking my car from me. Not a good company at all![:(!]

Welcome to the forum Mollykins10.

I'm sorry to hear that things haven't worked out as you will have hoped.

Was there any discussion about your car when you set up your trust deed?

Hi there,
Yes, the deal was that the car was good to stay as it was only worth about 2000 pounds and to down size they said it wouldn't be worth it. They seem to be changing the goal posts to suit them. I will need to plough through the mountains of paperwork from them to clarify this.

When did you originally sign your trust deed Mollykins10?

It will certainly be useful to see what's in your original agreement to confirm what you agreed to at the time.
