I made the last payment to my TD in May 2015 and I was discharged in November 2015.
I know the trustee hasn't yet discharged himself but how long should it take and then for the accounts to show as settled in my credit report?

I'm using the extra cash to take driving lessons and hopefully pass by September.
The only way I'll afford a half decent car is to try and get finance which I know won't be straight forward.

Im hoping if some of the defaults come off then I'll have a better chance.

Should I be chasing trustee up or do I just need to wait?

final payment 1st May 2015

Hi M2T

There are a few aspects to this.

Trustees seem to have differing timescales to discharge themselves. David Tannock has written on the forum that his firm tends to take 4-6 weeks. Others may take longer.

If you have been discharged and received form 5, the discharge of the Trustee is not of particular relevance to you, except in the case of the AIB register.

Your name appears on the Register of Insolvencies with the AIB for one year after your Trustee's discharge. This really only affects you if someone does a check specifically on this register.

With regard to your Credit Reference Files /Agencies your Trustee does not notify the Agencies of your discharge. It is the responsibility of each creditor to update your record to show the correct default date and that your accounts is Partially Satisfied (PS) or Satisfied (S). This information is often incorrect so you may have some work to do.

Check each date against the Credit Accounts to ensure the Default Date matches the date of the Trust Deed signing. If it is the same or close, it will automatically fall off six years after the default date.

If it is much later, it will remain on your file until six years after the date. You may wish to contact the Creditors to ask them to correct the date in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Contact the Customer Service Department, although I found it was the Defaulted Accounts department that dealt with it. You can provide them with a copy of your Form 5 showing signing and discharge date.

Good luck.
