Hi there,
My husband and I signed our Trust Deeds in April this year and they both went on to become protected on 4th June. All correspondence from my husbands creditors seems to have stopped but I am still getting daily phone calls, text messages and threatening letters from my creditors. I spoke to my IP firm about this a couple of weeks ago as most of these creditors (debt recovery firms acting on behalf of my creditors) had absolutely no record of the Trust Deed and they said they would check up on this but they are still coming.
How long should it take for the abuse to stop? I had hoped that upon taking this step the pressure would ease off but it seems to have increased.
Hello jls0505,
I'm sorry to hear that you are getting hassled in this way.
I would suggest that you speak with the IP firm again and ask that they contact the creditors (that have instructed these debt collection agencies) to remove you from their records.
Please don't feel unduly pressured by this contact. There is absolutely nothing that they can do now that your Trust Deed is protected.
Hi jls
the problem sometimes is that the debt is passed on to various debt collection firms, who fail to advise of the Trust Deed. On a large number of occassions we get the response that they know nothing about the Trust Deed, but when we check our files, we have actually received their claim.
Best advice would be to take a name reference and contact number and pass this on the the IP. The details can then be faxed or emailed over immediately.
