Hey guys.
First of all great forum, wish I knew about it when i first started my trust deed, which is due to run out on August 2013.
Myself and my girlfriend are thinking of getting a joint bank account together, which will make things much easier to manage our bills etc month to month. I would want the payment towards my trust deed took out from the new joint account but my trustee requests my current bank details and wage slips every 6 months. What im concerned about is doing anything which is going to
jeopardize my trust deed. Would it be an issue if a joint account would be in place and would it change anything to do with my trust deed. Thanks very much.

Welcome to the forum Sparky22.

Were you living with your girlfriend at the time the trust deed started?

Has anything significant in either of your circumstances changed since then?

You should be aware that a joint bank account will "link" your credit records. Your girlfriends credit record would not affected by your trust deed, but her ability to get credit might be (assuming that you don't already have any joint financial arrangements).

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I was living with my girlfriend at the time of the trust deed started but we dont have any joint finanical arrangements other than we are on the same gas/electricty accounts and council tax account.
I wouldn't want to harm her credit rating by having a joint account as I know how important it is to have a good credit rating. ๐Ÿ™‚

It wouldn't hurt her credit rating Sparky22, but it might affect the willingness of lenders to advance money to her if she applied.

It doesn't seem like there would be any issue in connection to your trust deed in getting a joint bank account, but perhaps the "linkage" issue may be more relevant here.

Trust deed assistant, one quick question. If we got a "joint bank account", do you know if it would increase my trust deed payment per month as at the end of the six months there would be more funds in our joint account than if I had my own account, which is usually pennies when the trustee requests my bank account details and balance at the end of the six months.

Hi sparky

I think it would be unlikely to increase the contribution as your girlfriend has her own financial commitments.
