I've been out of work and gambled online to try and win and won money then gambled again. What happens now? Please help
How long have you been out of work for and not in a position to make your agreed payments to your Trust Deed?
Also, how much money did you win gambling?

Hi willc,
Any windfall such lottery wins or gambling wins you have an obligation to notify to your Trustee and then they would consider ingathering these sums into your Trust Deed for the benefit of your creditors.
Under the circumstances as you were unemployed the Trustee could have taken a balanced view that some of the winnings could have helped you to financially support yourself during this time to pay things like rent/mortgage, utilities etc. and a proportion of them could have been ingathered into your Trust Deed. Should your Trustee become aware of the winnings they could consider an extension of your Trust Deed to ingather these sums for the benefit of your creditors. It’s something which you would need to speak with your Trustee about.
Is the gambling an issue for you? Would it be a good idea to perhaps seek some help with this from gamblers anonymous?
Setting the issue of the £6,000 gambling win aside, if you are able to find employment and recommence with your agreed payments per month or a suitable payment then your Trust Deed should be able to continue and then it’s reaching an agreement with your Trustee on the £6,000 and their view on this.

I guess it boils down to how your trustee views the winnings andf whether they are happy to set it against the losses you have incurred too. At the end of the day, you couldn't have won the money without the risk of losing too so to my mind when it comes to gambling trustees can't really get too twitchy about sums that were won and then subsequently lost.
I would definitely recommend you discuss your employment situation with your trustee - there should be flexibility available to accommodate a period of unemployment if necessary. Gambling is rarely, if ever, the answer - though I suppose deep down you probably know that already.

Thank you for sharing your story with the forum and being so open. I would recommend seeking help regarding your gambling. There are many fantastic organisations trained to provide assistance and guidance/support.
It is important to make sure your health and wellbeing is your number one priority and to help move on from this difficult period of your life.
As Kevin said, I would urge you to speak with your trustee. The trustee is there is help and provide support.
If you are unemployed, it is usual for the trustee to grant a payment break and take a balanced view on whether it is appropriate for the trust deed to continue.
